Zolar sees $23 million investment from Ecosia

Berlin-based greentech startup Zolar has secured a $23 million investment from Ecosia, an environmentally focused search engine. Ecosia aims to encourage other European businesses to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. The investment is part of Ecosia's efforts to accelerate the adoption of photovoltaic systems for residential consumers.

“We calculated that if we covered every roof in Europe with a photovoltaic system, we could offset the entire CO2 emissions of Spain, France, and Italy together. This shows what a significant contribution to climate protection is possible when the vast majority participates,” says Alex Mezler, CEO and founder of Zolar.
